The Hardest Question

Title: The Hardest Question.
Team: Weiß.
Challenge: Happiness.
Word Count: 100.
Characters: Crawford, Schuldig.

"Tell me," demanded Crawford, passing Schuldig another beer, "about your first kill."

Schuldig took a swig from the bottle and a thin smile played across his lips. "He was a petty criminal who'd pissed off the wrong people. No problem for me."

Crawford sneered at what the lack of any real answers told him about what the other man felt. He was too drunk to prepare for Schuldig's challenge, but it would work in the same way; he'd state events without revealing those detestable, inexplicable emotions.

"My turn. When was the last time you were happy?"

Crawford had no words.

This was indeed a good one. And that first kill-thing gave ideas - thanks. I wonder, has Crawford ever been happy. Maybe when he was a child. Or when Estet was destroyed.

Thank you very much! ^_^ Unfortunately my take on Crawford -- and Schuldig, for that matter! -- is that they are secret angst bunnies with a childhood stolen by Estet. ^^;;
