The True Story

Title: Monochromacy
Characters/Pairings: Ran, no pairing
Rating: G
Team: Weiss
Word Count: 100
Author’s note: Since the male Fujimiya is thinking of himself and his sister, I have used their “correct” names

It was a handicap Ran had learned to live with. Most colors could be inferred from context: ‘rose red’, ‘sky blue’, ‘lemon yellow’. Ran discovered it was socially acceptable for a man to be mystified when confronted with ‘loden’ or ‘aubergine’, and that he could demand help.

Color set things apart, which was why his younger sister had always been very discerning. Personally, Ran was grateful for his classic Japanese coloring and features, which allowed him to blend in more fully. Still thinking fondly of Aya, Ran donned the sweater she’d given him. Aya always said blue was his color.

All the bits that made it more clear failed the 100 word cut. Glad you liked it.

Poor Aya.
He'll never know who his true enemy is.

And everyone else is afraid to tell him. Or maybe he knows, but thinks all Japanese people have red hair and purple eyes.

That was a mind-trip. I loved it. It took me a moment to realize what was up until I got to the end and remembered that orange is opposite of blue on the color wheel. I wonder if she was pranking him or protecting him.

Oh, pranking. There's no other excuse for that sweater and his coloring. Unless she was colorblind, too.

I'm sure she didn't lie to him too often. It would spoil the effect.

Someday, there will an argument over it. "What do you mean? It's blue! Blue as the inside of a grilled cheese sandwich!"

Blue as the inside of a grilled cheese sandwich!

Thank you for the additional laugh!
